Network heat
The network heat is the hot water circulating in the pipes of FORTUM Power and Heat (a former MPEC). It is produced in cogeneration with electric power at KOGENERACJA S.A. A part of our production is the green energy by co-combustion of coal with biomass. This hot water is produced for the needs of central heating, hot tap water or for technological processes. We produce it:
For the safety of yourself and your family
The network heat is safe for health and life – it does not constitute a threat in terms of explosion, fire or intoxication with carbon monoxide. The heating equipment is fully automatic and totally safe in their operation. Their high quality and reliability guarantee the safe delivery and operation.
For comfort of operation
The network heat is the most convenient way of heating flats and buildings. It is you who sets the temperature in your flat with the use of a control device. It is you who decide at any part of the year, month or day what the temperature is to be in the rooms. In addition to that, you do not have to worry about the dates, deliveries, storage or operation, maintenance or renovations of heating equipment.
Improvement of the quality of air that we breathe in Wrocław because of the characteristic shaping of the land here and properties of the local climate; for several days a year we witness the phenomenon of inversion that has a harmful impact on the environment we live in. The inversion layer is the layer that is created especially in the winter time when various products of combustion of many fuels get to the atmosphere. The production of heat at the local coal, gas or oil boiler houses relates to the emission of harmful substances to the atmosphere. But the products of combustion created during production of the network heat are released through the high smokestacks (180 m and 120 m), and thanks to that they are dispersed without any harm to our health or the environment.

The network heat minimises the volume of emissions of pollutants to the atmosphere and improves the state of the environment. In the rooms that are heated with the use of the network heat we do not deal with combustion of fuels, emission of dust, gases or smells, as it is demonstrated on the picture above.
An extension of the heat distribution networks, liquidation of the local boiler houses and stoves, and increase of the share of production of electric power and heat in cogeneration causes a lower consumption of fuels and, thus, a lowering of emission of pollutants and of the volume of furnace wastes. It is the so-called Sankey’s graph that illustrates the best the benefits of the production in cogeneration.
Producing the network heat (in cogeneration) we adhere to the most stringent international norms, use the newest technologies and combust a high quality coal whose price on the market is stable. Thanks to this, the network heat is an ecological and the best solution for the cities like Wrocław.
Stabilisation of expenses for the use of network heat
Every year, the price for the network heat is determined by the Office of Regulation of Power Industry. During the last 10 years, its price increased below the inflation rate.
